Hornet Hornets Exceeding, and Excelling Expectation


Odyssey of the Mind (ODM) ---- On March 18, C.A. Johnson hosted the annual ODM state-wide tournament this year.  Our students competed and won the state-wide high school division and will be traveling again this year to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University in Detroit, Michigan May 24 – May 27.  Please congratulate Mrs. Vanderhorst and Ms. Davidson along with the students for a job well done.

  • The students going to world event are:  Amariyah Ayee, Kayleigh Rivers, Beverline McCarey, Alejandria McDuffie, and Leroy Nix.   This team placed 2nd in Division III "It's Time Omer".  


  • The other students’ team won 3rd place in Division III, "To be Continued... The Superhero Cliffhanger”. The students are: Destiyana Williams, M'Sonti Chinn, Tamera Guess, Johnathan Malone, Tanaisha Gilmore, and Tautiara Williams. 


Math Competition --- C.A. Johnson High School traveled to Myrtle Beach and competed in the 38th Annual State-wide Math Contest.  C.A. Johnson, Diqi Yan, Student Representative  won First place in athe Individual, Small school place and our Level 1 Team won 3rd Place Overall.  

Team Members are:  Marquel Amaker, Davonna Anderson-Sharpe, Amariyah Ayee, Akerria Marshall Howard, David Archer, Justin Simmons, Essence Thompson-Smith, and Diqi Yan.  Please congratulation Mrs. Cathy Page, Sponsor and Ms. Katrina Hazelwood, Department Chair. 


FBLA ---- State Conference Competition was held Saturday in North Charleston, SC. C.A. Johnson Tarkia Reese earned 4th place in Business Ethics and is now eligible to advance to the National Competition in Anaheim, California this summer.
