What is the IB Middle Years Program (IBMYP)?
Aligning to the IB Mission Statement the Middle Years Program is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, the MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation.
The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. It is a five-year programme, which can be implemented in a partnership between schools. Students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme (CP).

The Lower Richland Cluster strives to attain the highest rigor and standards so that students are prepared to continue into the Diploma and Career Program, are able to earn college entry and scholarships, and be successful in post-secondary education while becoming positive contributors in a global world. We believe the attributes of the Learner Profile align to the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate and thus students are prepared to be successful in the 21st Century.
The IBMYP is a five year program when implemented begins in the 6th grade in our feeder schools: Hopkins and Southeast Middle School. Students will complete their final two years of the IBMYP at Lower Richland High School and have an opportunity to continue their IB educaton in the IB Diploma or IB Career Program. Students who have not attended Hopkins or Southeast Middle may still participate in the IBMYP during their entire freshman and sophomore years.
Please contact the MYP Coordinator, Constantina Green, if you have questions about the program.
