Diamond Hornet Male Empowerment

Lower Richland High School Diamond Hornet Male Empowerment Mentoring Program offered by the Richland One Office of Dropout Prevention and Counseling Department at Lower Richland High School. In this program, young men will participate in a group mentoring cohort that is designed to empower their journey to success, through activities focused on character growth, conflict resolution, soft skills development, and socio-emotional learning through the teenaged years.

These young men, under the leadership of the Richland One Coordinator of Dropout Prevention, School Counselor, Coaches, and administrators, will spend time weekly in engagement and enriching activities.  All young men participating will greatly benefit from having another positive role model in his life and hopes that the relationship will lead to increased academic performance, self-esteem, and emotional development. The Program Coordinators will sporadically conduct classroom visits to check on the progress of the students and to see if the students are utilizing the skills that they have been taught. Our goal is to create leaders and future mentors to others by having a peer mentor and a leadership council within the mentoring cohort.
