The mission of the Lower Richland High School Media Center is to assist all learning community members in becoming effective users, creators, and evaluators of information, thereby empowering them to become literate, lifelong learners in a rapidly evolving world. The Media Center fosters critical thinking, curiosity, and academic excellence across all subject areas through equitable access to a diverse collection of print and digital resources.
This mission is fulfilled through the dedicated efforts of the school library media staff in collaboration with teachers, students, and families. With adequate funding, up-to-date technology, and a welcoming environment, the Media Center is a learning hub and a safe space for exploration, creativity, and collaboration.
Services offered by the Media Center include:
• Access to research databases, digital tools, and curated online resources
• Book borrowing and digital lending, including fiction, non-fiction, and academic texts
• Research and citation support for class projects, essays, and capstone assignments
• Collaborative spaces for group work, tutoring, and presentations
• Technology assistance, including help with student devices, printing, and multimedia projects
• Literacy promotion programs, including book clubs, author spotlights, and reading challenges
• Instructional support for teachers integrating information literacy and digital citizenship into their curriculum
