Individual Graduation Plans (IGP)

The Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) is an important part of helping students plan for high school completion and their future college and career goals.

  • All students must complete an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP), including diploma and non-diploma students and students participating in an alternative assessment.

  • The IGP aligns the student’s career goals with their course of study.

  • When appropriate, the IGP must incorporate provisions of the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).

  • The IGP must be approved by a certified school counselor, the student, and the student’s parent(s), guardian(s), or an individual designated by the parent(s) or guardian(s).

Why IGP Conferences Matter

IGP conferences provide an opportunity for students, families, and school counselors to work together to:

  • Review graduation requirements and academic progress.

  • Select courses that support the student’s career and postsecondary goals.

  • Discuss college, career, military, and workforce opportunities.

  • Identify needed academic support or interventions.

  • Ensure the student remains on track for graduation.

Parents and guardians play an important role in helping students develop a plan for success beyond high school.
